HfG Archive Ulm

The HfG Archive Ulm has the task of documenting history, content and significance of the Ulm School of Design (HfG) and making it accessible to a broad public.

The Exhibition Ulm School of Design — from the zero hour to 1968 in the original building of the HfG shows a broad presentation of the developments, designs and events of this unique school.
This part of the HfG archive is complemented by the presentation of temporary exhibitions, events and publications.

The collection of the HfG Archive documents the innovations in design and environmental design that emanated from the former Hochschule für Gestaltung Ulm.

The holdings include the Ulm School of Designs own archive (1950-1968) with original files, graphics, objects and photographs. It is supplemented by loans and donations from former HfG members as well as the extensive bequests of works by former lecturers Otl Aicher, Tomás Gonda, Walter Zeischegg and Hans Roericht. New material is continually being acquired through the development of exhibitions and contact with former members of the university, so that the collection is constantly being expanded.
