Departure into reality. Films from the Institute for Film Design at the Ulm School of Design
The HfG Archive/Museum is presenting selected film projects from the Institute for Film Design at the former Ulm School of Design for the first time.
In 1965, the “Film” department, headed by Alexander Kluge and Edgard Reitz, was founded under the name “Institute for Film Design” and survived even after the end of the Ulm School of Design in 1968.
The exhibition focuses in particular on films by Günther Hörmann, including “Ruhestörung – Ereignisse in Berlin 1967” (Disturbance of the Peace – Events in Berlin 1967) from 1968 (together with Hans Dieter Müller). Hörmann studied at the HfG from 1961 to 1967 and was a member of the management committee of the Institute for Film Design from 1969 onwards.
