Geometrie im Raum

In memory of Dieter Raffler, an industrial designer who trained at the Ulm School of Design and passed away in January 2026, the HfG Archive / Museum is hosting a memorial event on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at 7:00 p.m.

The presentation “Geometry in Space” will also be featured that evening. It consists of a small selection of three-dimensional geometric models that the designer constructed during the final years of his life. They serve as striking evidence of his long-standing, intensive engagement with geometric principles. The exhibition can be viewed as part of the permanent collection (through mid-September 2026).

Dieter Raffler (1942–2026) was born in Graz, Austria. From 1964 to 1966, and again in 1969 after a leave of absence, he studied at the Ulm School of Design, where he earned his diploma in the Product Design Department in 1970. In 1966, Dieter Raffler was employed at the HfG as an assistant in the Product Design Department. In addition to his freelance work as a product designer, Dieter Raffler also served as a university lecturer at the Berlin University of the Arts and at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences in Dessau.
