Changes in the curatorial team of HfG Archive Ulm

We say goodbye to Christiane Wachsmann

Hardly any other colleague knows the holdings of the HfG Archive as well as Christiane Wachsmann, who built up the newly established archive of the former Ulm School of Design from 1989 onwards. In the early years, she visited the “HfGers” to ask them about their studies in Ulm and to obtain loans or donations for the archive. At that time, the HfG archive was still housed in the Pionierkaserne. There she not only set up a depot, but also organized numerous exhibitions. After taking time off to raise a family, Christiane Wachsmann returned to contribute her vast expertise and curate exhibitions at the new location, the original HfG building, most recently on HfG designer Hans Gugelot and the material plastic. Last Wednesday, her colleagues at the HfG Archive and Museum Ulm bid her farewell with great gratitude and many good wishes as she entered retirement.

We welcome Viktoria Lea Heinrich

The new curator, Viktoria Lea Heinrich, is no stranger to Ulm. From 2019 to 2021, she worked as an intern at the HfG Archive on the research project “Exhibiting Design: The Visibility of the HfG Ulm: From Ulm to Montréal,” funded by the Volkswagen Foundation. She completed her traineeship with the exhibition “HfG Ulm: Exhibition Fever” (2021), which she curated together with two colleagues. She is currently writing her doctoral thesis on Hans (Nick) Roericht, whose estate is kept at the HfG Archive in Ulm. After working in Kassel and at the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe in Hamburg, Viktoria Lea Heinrich is returning to Ulm, where her colleagues at the HfG Archive and the Museum Ulm are eagerly awaiting her.
